Secret Cafe....

I bet you are someone that loves books and book stores and cafes like I do! This one is a GEM! The Biscuit Eater in Mahone Bay. I always try to stop in each time I pass through. This is Kim, a lovely girl who was kind enough to let me take her picture as she was reading. She looked so cosy when I entered the room.

This charming wee cafe/bookstore is tucked away on a side street behind "P'lovers". Not the kind of place you would find by yourself, it is one of those special spots that is passed on by word of mouth and treasured by the locals. In the summer you can relax outside in the back under umbrellas and majestic trees.

Another great thing about this place is the food. You can order "raw" selections and gluten free and of course all the other good stuff. They serve meals as well as "treats". This was what we stopped in for on our way back to Halifax.

I adore the way they have labeled their reading selections. So creative and whimsical. Just my kind of spot.

Wish I lived down the street !

I love the Biscuit Eater too but I was secretly hoping you were going to be highlighting a new spot. A girl can never have too many good cafes in her arsenal.

p.s. I saw your huge poppies in the Witherstone window today. Beautiful.

Debra~ There are a few wee rooms to curl up in, you'd love it.
Micheline~ Ha,I'll have to find another one for you! I'm excited about Witherstone. Sometime in May there will be the grand opening and a "meet n greet" You will have to pop down.

Oh! Just my 'cup of tea!' Would love to visit.

Reminds of one of my favorite yarn/coffee shops, in Wisconsin--The Sow's Ear. Gorgeous yarns, wonderful tea, coffee, fresh Wisconsin cheese, lovely house-made hummus. And the staff is marvelous.

I went there on Friday. My hubby and I lived in Mahone Bay 20+ years ago; and thet building was one we considered buying. But it was a wreck at the time. It's so nice to visit and see how beautifully it's been restored ... and how deliciously!

Cute! I didn't realize this place was there - I LOVE Mahone Bay, so will have to look out for it next time I go!

Our real estate agent took us there to wait to hear about our offer on the house we were purchasing 3+ years ago - I often make the trip from Bridgewater just for a coffee, treat and to look around the books! Love it!!

As a soon to be school librarian I LOVE this bookstore/cafe and I wish I live down the street from it myself! I wish it was close by, instead of a country away! It's the type of store I could stay in for hours! Thanks for sharing this lovely shop!

Thanks for the tip Shelagh. We stopped in here after the market on Saturday and enjoyed yummy soup and biscuits on a blustery day, topped off with a shared piece of the best carrot cake! I'm so glad to be making regular trips to Halifax again and will follow up on more of your restaurant recommendations:-)
