Alice

This is my grandmother Alice, aged 19 in Scotland. She's the woman behind the name of this blog. Her eyes were dark pools, my daughter has inherited those dark eyes. My dad's eyes were the bluest of blue and mine are green. Alice had really long glossy hair and her mother instructed her to brush it one hundred times every night to keep it healthy and shiny. My grandmother used to brush my hair when I was a little girl and I loved it.
Sadly the picture is very creased now. I am thinking I should really start scanning some of my old pictures and putting them on a disk.

H definitely resembles her. In fact, that's the first thing I noticed! I adore looking at old photos. I hope you'll share some more.

A good photo restorer could take those creases out and give you back a beautiful digital image.

Wow she does have beautiful dark eyes! What a beauty! I wish I could have known my nana when she was younger - apparently I look a lot like her. I agree w WC that you should share more old photos :)

I agree with Debra, you really ought to see about getting that restored. Your daughter will love to have it someday, and her daughter as well. She was a beautiful woman.

Alice is absolutely stunning!
And I agree with Debra She Who Seeks, the crease can be smooth over.
I very much enjoyed 'my stroll' along Nova Scotia's shore with you!
Thanks for sharing and God bless,

Your grandmother was beautiful. Have you checked with any photo refinishers in the HRM? I had a photo of my paternal grandparents redone and it turned out amazing (he was 47 and she 22 when they married.
Photos like your grandmother's reach across the years and show our places in time.

Greetings from Summerside :)

Wow - she's absolutely gorgeous! Your daughter is lucky to have inherited those genes. And yes, I think it would be a great idea to start scanning your old family photos. If you have siblings, I'm sure they would love copies of them.

So lovely! And it's wonderful to see the face behind your blog's namesake :) Having seen your daughter only once or twice, I can definitely see a resemblance.

My mother has spent the past 2-3 years recapturing our family's history and photos. She's scanned and had reprinted dozens upon dozens of photos. I'm so grateful she's preserved them for us!
