New York 1
I feel like I have not been around this wee blog much and I miss it:) I am still recovering from New York. Can you believe it? We packed a tremendous amount of activity into one week. Thanks so much for all your great tips. I followed up on many of them and others just could not find the time.
It was Fleet Week while we were there and sailors were everywhere! This place never gets dark, the light changes according to the billboards that light up. This picture of sailors was taken about 11pm.
We stayed right next door to Times Square which I found to be beautiful and busy and bizarre. Our hotel was a quiet oasis from the hubbub. A friend recommended it and what a gem. Every night they lay out a wine and cheese buffet in a small lounge and it was really lovely to come back from a full day, sit and unwind a bit and chat and then head off into the night again. We met some marvelous people.
We walked and walked and walked. Really, you have to go into training to do this city! They say that the average New Yorker walks 10 km a day. Hardly anyone owns a car. Expensive to park and public transit and taxis are so plentiful, there's no need. I only saw one gas station and that was in Brooklyn. You never know who you will see....Here is Spiderman walking along Fifth Avenue. Talking on the ever popular cellphone. I recognized his voice before I saw him:)
and I leave you with........the naked shower guy. Taken at Radio City Music Hall, Sex in the City Premier:)

What an amazing peek at your trip so far! If I ever go to New York I will ask you all about the place you stayed, sounds perfect. Wow, navy days in New York, wish I had been there for that.
holy poop!! seriously.
NYC would blow my little, rural nova scotian mind... haha!
That particular area is always a hub of activity into the wee hours... did you try Ruby Foos?
Naked Shower Guy...LOL.. now he really was hot, and boy did he get alot of action.
Well, as they say, New York, New York, it's a hellova town!
It's an awesome place and these are great photos. Youre right though, be prepared to walk. A lot. And that last photo is sweet! I don't watch Sex and the City but I know him as Gilles Marini from Dancing With the Stars!
Completely enjoyed your New York post! I'm collecting world flags on my silly little blog. My brother and I challenged each other - trying to get to 100 first. Come visit the blog and help me win!

What a great trip to New York! The last time I was there it was the middle of the summer...very hot! Naked Shower Guy was very cute...I am looking forward to the movie, even though it is getting panned...great blog...I am taking Kelly's course too..
What fun! Sounds like you had a wonderful trip :) Thanks for sharing the Naked Shower Guy with us (lol)
Beautiful NYC shots! I love the color the camera can find there. You did a great job capturing the energy and feel of city life ... I swear I could almost hear the car horns honking and the miscellaneous sounds of people passing by.
Shelagh it sounds like you had lots of fun! Your hotel looks lovely and it is good to know you liked it so much as I am often asked for recommendations. Since I live in the southern end of Brooklyn, near the beaches, I don't often sleep over in Manhattan so I never know what hotel to suggest.
I am looking forward to reading more about everything you did and saw! Where did you go to in Brooklyn? I hope the promenade in Brooklyn Heights to get the nice city view!
I've enjoyed visiting your blog this morning very much.
New York really is one of my favorite places to visit. Enjoyed your pictures of Times Square, they are much better than the ones I took.
Will be back to see you again,
Blessings,
Debra
Can you let me know the name of the hotel you stayed in? My daughter and I are heading to NYC in August for some Mom and Daughter time.
