Books

Today's haul from the library! I love libraries, so many books so little time. I think I've probably said that before:) When I was a little girl we used to go once a week and it was a big thrill to sit hidden in the stacks and pour over the piles of books I would gather. When it was time to go home, I could never decide which ones to check out. Dr. Seuss often found his way home with us as did George the Monkey and wonderful, wonderful Babar and his family. I continued the tradition with my daughter and those classic books found their way back into my home again:) Like welcoming old friends!
Busy day. Painted the outside garage door, side door and bits under the windows, went to the post office, library, bank, and VOTED, made some appointments, worked in the garden, cleaned kitchen and blogged. Now I am going to make an Asparagus Anise Soup recipe I found in the Washington Post. I have a fennel bulb hanging around and some fresh asparagus. Sounds interesting. Later I hope to get out for a walk and do some sketches for painting tomorrow:) More than you ever wanted to know about what I was up to today:))

There are about 46 people participating in this so far! Lots of letters:)
5 Days left to register! "Letter Revival Festival" (until Sunday, June 14) If you like receiving interesting mail and don't mind sending a letter ...this is for you! Click on the banner to learn more:) I would be happy if you could spread the word, you can use this wee banner .

I love the library, too! I also go to the thrift stores and pick up books!!! When I was young, I thought reading was boring! Can you imagine! My Daddy was a reader, so I guess I finally developed it from him!!

Must let us know how the recipe turns out! Sounds so yummy...I am hungry, hummmm

Yay for libraries! Without them, we'd be broke due to all the money my husband would spend in book stores...and my daughter is following in his footsteps. yay!

Libraries are like heaven. A good memory from childhood too. The library smell gets me. I bought an ex libris book on ebay once just for the smell.

Well, I have spent most of the last 10 years in a library believe it or not. Have I told you that I was an elementary school librarian? They are rather small - about 15,000 books but still hard work with over 1000 students visiting each week. Some days I miss it and some days I don't.

More than books and library talk, my goodness you got a lot done today! Wow woman! That's like superheroish kind of work done! Swoosh over to my house in Los Angeles - it probably needs a touch up or two before I get home tomorrow night. Who knows what I will find? At this point I won't care one bit!

I love hearing the ordinary happenings of a person's day, somehow it makes the day extraordinary. Your bit about the library was a reflection of my own past both as a child and as a mother. With the kids soon to be off for the summer we are signing up again for the summer reading program at our local library. Favorites of ours include Mother Goose, Dr. Seuss, Thomas the Tank Engine, Frog and Toad, and Winnie the Pooh! Right now I am reading "March" by Geraldine Brooks and I am rereading "New Moon" by Stephenie Meyer for a book club. I love to read and am very grateful for libraries or else I'd be broke! Speaking of libraries I volunteer in both the middle school and elementary school libraries for my sons. I love it! Have a wonderful evening!
Namaste,
Joan

your love of the library couldn't have come at a better time. the next day the atlantic provinces library association conference kicked off in halifax. library and literary tours, and book talks abound. halifax was swarming with librarians. it was fantastic.
