books and sunflowers

Books and Sunflowers, original now available on eBay

I painted yesterday. No day off for me:) Actually it felt great. I've been busy and distracted and to sit down and get to it was wonderful. When I was on the Northumberland shore, I managed to get some sketches done in my book. Always a good feeling. I like to have several so I am always ready with something to create when I sit down in my studio (ahem, dining room table)

The weather is still beautiful. September here is always a magical month. I am meeting a new friend for tea today. I wonder if they they serve crumpets:) Does anyone serve crumpets anymore? Do you even know what a crumpet is?

Have a great week.

I buy crumpets from The Superstore. They are a fat-free, light, almost spongey biscuit?? that's the diameter of an English muffin but not quite so high. I believe they're made by putting them on a griddle, so the underside is golden and the top side is an indented bubbly surface -- just perfect to hold your butter or honey after they've come from the toaster. I really enjoy them. So, if I had actual REAL crumpets (not store bought), I'd probably love them!

I serve crumpets at my house ... mmmmmm with lashings of butter!!!! Warburtons are the best crumpet EVER. Unless of course you make them yourself, which I am sure would be even more divine!!!!

You'd think that Ardmore Tea Room would have crumpets.

I love that painting. With sunflowers and a kitty?! It's perfect in my eyes. :)
I've had crumpets before. In a teahouse in Seattle.

I love crumpets - but while I've driven by the Ardmore Tea Room many times, I've never been in. Dollars to doughnuts they don't have crumpets.

It looks kind of like an English Muffin to me. I love anything you can smear butter on! Yum!

That painting is lovely! I so miss the ocean. And crumpets, why yes, I do believe they still sell crumpets. At least in the UK they do. We used to enjoy them on a regular basis. Hope you found some!

I love the colorful books in the bookshelf; they are what caught my eye first and foremost...and then, of course, the sweet kitty.

I hope you had a wonderful time at tea and that if there were no crumpets there were some other good treats! xo

I love Crumpets, preferably hot toasted with butter and blackcurrant jam :) Luckily for me (but bad news for my hips) we can get them locally at Trader Joe's - mmmm!

Crumpets... yum... as an ex-pat Brit I'm proud to say we've always enjoyed them overtoasted and slathered with butter, along with a nice cuppa there's no nicer snack or light breaky, my kids love 'em too.. you can find them at Superstore most times, and I think also at Pete's Frootique (since Pete Luckett is a limey of course)... we used to put a chunk of cheshire cheese on them too - oooo so good... now I'm hungry. I love your paintings!!
