Do mermaids wear glasses?
I took a very quick trip to Lunenburg on Saturday. At the last minute we decided to jump into the car and head out to this picturesque seaside town. It is a Unesco World Heritage site. Actually the real reason we went, besides the fact that it was a glorious sunny day was to pop into an art exhibit that a friend of mine is participating in. As luck would have it, I never did get to see the exhibit but that is another story and gives me a reason to go back soon!
I had forgotten what a lovely place this is!
When we got there, the "Seafood Festival" was in full swing! We even got to judge a chowder competition. It was quite fun and delicious. Interesting to try five chowders side by side. You could taste how different they all were when compared directly. I liked one that had a slightly smokey flavour. Wonder who won?
It was hard walking around without my camera plastered to my face:) Really!
Lunenburg is a really attractive and interesting place to wander about. The signs are lovely and coax you into the shops. Who wouldn't want to visit a shop called Comfort and Joy!
Or how about ...
To be continued:)

beautiful shots - lots of gorgeous color
With your beautiful pictures and descriptions of life in your neck of the woods, I've had to continually add to my "bucket list"! :)
What a colorful and charming place. I must get to the east coast someday! Beautiful images.
PS (I often can't comment on Blogger.)
What wonderful colors on all the quaint buildings. These photos really make me want to visit.
ow - such a colourful and beautiful place! I think even in the rain it would cheer me up :-)
One of my favourite places in Nova Scotia, this is such wonderful energy there, I just love it and can't taking pics either.
I want to go there NOW! It is so pretty - oh, how lucky that you live that close to be able to go there...
I love Lunenburg. I am typing in my kitchen where I can see a framed photo of my boys at the wheel of the Bluenose in Lunenburg a couple of years ago. Sigh. 10 months and counting........
I'm lucky enough to live next door to Lunenburg! It's a gem for sure. Magnolia's Cafe makes the best peanut butter soup I've tasted; and next door is Chibby's - a great little shop with a beautiful selection of hats that would not look out of place at Ascot.
Absolutely lovely - and next time I am in Nova Scotia - I will be definitely planning my visit to Lunenberg aroudn the seafood festival.
OOOh, I LOVE this place... the vivid colors.. really neat shoppes, I could get lost there happily :-)
Oh my gosh, that place looks like something you might dream about. How wonderful!
What amazing colors! It gets so cold up there it must be a delight in winter also.
wow, what a pretty place :)
Hi Shelagh!
Such a pretty, colorful town! Those signs would have certainly lured me in to see more.
I would someday love to drive around the whole coast of Nova Scotia and see towns like this.
I had an amazing white chowder while on vacation that had amaretto in it as a 'secret' flavoring. It was so good!
Hopefully next time I won't miss you when you visit "my" area of the province!
gorgeous photos. such vibrant colors. i love these.
OMG that place couldn't be any cuter if it tried hard!! Love those brightly coloured buildings, what a treat for the eyes (more clearly visible with mermaid glasses).
Lovely, lovely pictures of a lovely, lovely place. Mermaids in glasses has to be made into a piece of art or story maybe. I'll have to see what I can do about that. Inspiration galore can be found on your lovely blog.
