March 13

Sunflowers available on eBay

Very cold today but the sun is shining and the March sun carries a warmth that is lovely despite the cold. Does that make sense? I picked some forsythia branches and have plopped them into a vase on my windowsill. I look forward to watching the buds blossom yellow in a few weeks. I'm hurrying along spring.:)

I just finished the most wonderful book! The Gargoyle, by Andrew Davidson
"It is a story of a gorgeous, dissolute male porn star who was burned beyond recognition in a car crash who, while recovering, meets a tattooed schizophrenic sculptress who claims that they were lovers in 14th-century Germany, when she was a nun and he was a mercenary. There are wonderful tales woven throughout the novel and one is left wondering what is the truth and what isn't." This is Andrew's first novel and it was picked up by Doubleday in the United States for the whopping sum of 1.25 million dollars.

I love the colors in your paintings. So vibrant! I haven't read the book but it does sound intriguing. I love the cover art, awesome tattoo effect.

Thank you so much for visiting and for your suggestion about the nightshade foods, I'd forgotten about that. My Mum used to avoid them as she had arthritis.
I hadn't heard of this book maybe it's not out over here U.K. yet. It sounds really intriguing, I followed the link you gave and I especially liked the bit about him being inspired by ' a woman with wild hair in church'!! Sounds like me!! :)

Bonjour Shelagh! Beautiful painting, the colors reminds me so much of late afternoon in August, when the sun is just perfect. Lucky you to have the ocean so near... I am mermaid at heart, should have been born on an island myself... My Rainbow colors are coming but this week has been a weird one with all happening at the same time, computer problems, sickness and lots of laziness... I will work on it for next week, promised! Have a great weekend! LuLu xxx

That is some provocative sounding read. That would take your mind of Winter.
Forsythia bloomed here about 2 weeks ago. You are almost there!
Interesting, the wings remind me of your artist interview.

Hi Shelagh! I'm finally trying to catch up a bit on my blog visiting. It is always a pleasure to visit your beautiful and interesting blog. I absolutely adore the sunflowers - mmmm, mmmm, just gorgeous.

I read below you are a geocacher! I used to be. I have around 500 finds (and I know two of the top three cachers in the world - crazy!) and then over the last year we kind of fizzled out. I started looking for sea glass instead I guess cuz that's all I get out to look for. Anyway, you had a lovely place to be caching on what looks like a beautiful day!

I'm going off to explore some more but wanted to say Howdy before I left. Have a good weekend and thank you for all of your support and kind thoughts and words the last few weeks!

What an unusual book plot! It sounds decadent but intriguing. Have you read "The Road"? That book was chilling.

The Gargoyle was by far my fave read of 2008. Such a unique and interesting story told in a heartwarming way.
