Sketch

A few days ago I was poring over some of my travel journals, doing a bit of armchair escapism:) I found this sketch in one of them. I wish I had done more sketching, there are only a couple in my books. I do remember sitting up on this hill waiting for my friend to finish her afternoon class. She was taking Italian and art. It was a hot day and late in the afternoon. The roofs were all terracotta. I could hear the buzzing of insects.
Another memory of Florence during this visit is living through the worst thunder and lightening storm of my life. It was so loud! The booms made the walls shake. I remember the lead up to it, midday the sky turned black and the heat and stillness were unbearable. It lasted all afternoon until early evening and then all hell broke loose.

Isn't it amazing how a sketch can bring back so many fond memories. Wonderful art. Even with the storm it must have been so beautiful.

That's fantastic. I wish I had a fraction of your talent.

What a beautiful sketch! I admire your patience for creating such a detailed sketch. It's lovely. And I like how it comes with a memory. Have you included the written piece in the sketchbook?

I love that sketch! I need to remember to bring a sketch book with me on my trips...you have inspired me.

March is in like a lion for us here in VA. We got 8" of snow...maybe a foot...all good and loving it since we rarely get this much. I have been sledding 3 times now and got to have the day off today because of the snow!

Wonderful sketch! My son did a semester of college in Italy and absolutely loved it! His brother and sister even took a trip to visit him while he was there and loved it as well.

How wonderful that one sketch could bring memories flooding back like that!

I also think it's amazing how a sketch can take you right back to the moment. More/better than anything else can do it! xoxo

Florence is one of my favorite cities in the world! Your sketch is a wonderful rendition.

We visited Italy north to south for a month, and the entire time had only sunshine...we were lucky!
