Chilly Sunday

Um, who's been sleeping in my bed?

Happy Burns Day! The day the Scottish celebrate haggis and Scotch and the poet that wrote these words.... "Fair fa' your honest, sonsie face, Great chieftain o' the puddin-race!" I actually like haggis. Served with tatties and neeps. (potatoes and turnip)

I lifted the duvet on my bed and look who I found! Eyes still closed. He stretches out full length when warm and toasty:) Today is another really chilly one so it's a good place to be:)

Tatties...I love that name for a potato...I think I must start calling them that!! what will my husband think when I tell him I'm serving tattie salad.....hope your weekend is going well...Keep warm up there!!

So cute! And wise. It's freakin' freezing. We never really got the warm spell we were supposed to.

I didn't know the Five Fisherman used to be an art school! I knew used after the Halifax Explosion. It's expensive though but the food was worth it.

And a belated happy Burns Night to you too! We had the traditional haggis (from McSweens, the best kind), neeps and tatties followed by a latte. Not quite so traditional but what the hey!

And if you like the word tattie, you will like the word for a sort of Scottish wee monster, a bit like a non-threatening bogey man. Meet: the tattie bogle.

Except for the comforter this could be a picture of my Sandycat under the blankets, stripes and all! Funny thing is going under has to be her idea. If I toss a blanket over her I get to see her "wild child" impression (her original name that she finds very, very beneath her these days)!

Hugs and blessings from Snowy Oregon - Jean

PS: I'm with you on the tatties and neeps but haggis not so much. My favorite cookbook has a haggis recipe that starts with...first catch a hare! and goes on from there! Those early Scottish Colonials liked their jokes!
